PLANT SMART! Every species of butterfly requires a unique host plant during their caterpillar phase.  Without milkweed and other host plants, the butterfly populations will continue to decline. Incorporating native butterfly host plants into your landscaping is an easy way to help re-populate butterfly numbers.  Another benefit to promoting native California host plants in your garden is that they've evolved and adapted to be drought tolerant and thrive with less water.
